Adam Wade Duncan is poised for a significant career in the spinto/helden tenor repertoire. German roles include Tristan in Tristan und Isolde, Siegfried in Götterdämmerung and Siegfried, Paul in Die Tote Stadt, Kaiser in Frau ohne Schatten, Siegmund in Die Walküre, and the title roles in Tannhäuser, Lohengrin and Parsifal, as well as noted Italian roles including Canio in I Pagliacci, Turridu in Cavalleria Rusticana, Cavaradossi in Tosca, Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut, Luigi in Il Tabarro, Calaf in Turandot and Manrico in Il Trovatore. A house favorite at the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Mr. Duncan has performed in the companies’ productions of Tosca, Aida, Madama Butterfly, Lucia di Lammermoor, La Traviata, Julius Caesar, Hamlet, Carmen and Un Ballo in Maschera. In concert, he has performed in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, Handel’s Messiah, and several of the Bach Cantatas. Next, he performs Canio in I Pagliacci at the Civic Opera Theater of Kansas City, and returns to Lyric Opera of Kansas City for Rigoletto and Don Giovanni. Mr. Duncan received his M.M. in Voice Performance at the University of Missouri at Kansas City, and his B.A. in Voice Performance and Music Education from Northwest Nazarene University. He recently served as the Assistant Professor of Music at Park University, where he also directed the Northland Choir, as well as serving as and Adjunct Professor of Voice at the Kansas City Community College and Choirmaster at the St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. He also coaches voice privately for over ten years.
